One-time donations and verification payments are handled by the Mollie payment module, our payment service provider. For this Mollie must process your personal data. Mollie is the data controller, and its privacy policy applies. We recommend that you read Mollie’s privacy policy before using their payment module.

Bits of Freedom collects recurring donations through Triodos Bank.

Donor update
No more than four times a year we send out donor updates with exclusive information and offers, especially for Bits of Freedom donors. It’s easy to register in our donor’s portal. Just fill out the email address you used when you registered as a donor, and by return you will get an email with a link to log in. Is the link not working? Over the years we have achieved a great deal. You may know us from campaigns, or from all the tips and tools we have developed to help you protect yourself online and to stand up for your rights.
Every year since 2001 Bits of Freedom has also been giving out the Big Brother Awards. And you may have come across our name in the national media, where we explain and comment on developments that impact our digital privacy and internet freedom.

Different account number?
You can change your account number in our donor’s portal. Just fill out the email address you used when you registered as a donor, and by return you will get an email with a link to log in. Is the link not working? Send us an email at donateurs@bitsoffreedom.nl and we’ll be happy to help.

Moving house?
Good luck and enjoy your new home! But there’s no need to notify us of your new address. We only store the absolute minimum when it comes to our regular donors: Your email address, your name and your IBAN.

Cancel your donation?
You can cancel your donation in our donor’s portal. Just fill out the email address you used when you registered as a donor, and by return you will get an email with a link to log in. Is the link not working? Send us an email at donateurs@bitsoffreedom.nl and we’ll be happy to help.

Bits of Freedom collects at the start of the month. In practice, your payment is usually collected around the 5th of every month. Let’s say you gave a direct debit mandate on October 13. Then the first payment will be collected in November. Quarterly donations are collected every three months, and annual donations every twelve months.

Yes! As Bits of Freedom is a public benefit organization (in Dutch: “ANBI”), donations may be deductible from your taxable income.

Would you like to make a donation but prefer not to use a standing order? Then you can just make a manual transfer to IBAN: NL73TRIO0391107380 in the name of Bits of Freedom in Amsterdam. Thank you so much for your donation!

Of course you can make a donation from outside the Netherlands. If you donate from a Dutch account, all you have to do is click on the “Donate” button at the top right.

Would you like to become a regular donor of Bits of Freedom but don’t have a Dutch IBAN? That, too, is possible, but in that case you have to contact us.

If you don’t have an IBAN, you can still make a one-time donation. Just click on the button “Donate” at the top right, and use your credit card or PayPal. Or transfer your donation to IBAN NL73TRIO0391107380 in the name of Bits of Freedom in Amsterdam (BIC TRIONL2U).

For some donations from the UK, US and Canada it is good to know that we have been ratified by the Charities Aid Foundation.

The pressure on freedom and privacy on the internet is mounting. With sweeping implications for the daily lives of millions of Dutch internet users.
