Why are we concerned?
Bits of Freedom believes the pervert glasses disrupt public order and pose a threat to our safety and privacy.
Everything you do on the street can be recorded and end up on the internet. If someone stands a phone in front of your face, you can still walk away if you don't want to appear on camera. With glasses, it's extremely difficult to tell if you're being filmed or not.
What's even more worrying: you have no control over what Meta then does with all that recorded data. Given Meta's reputation when it comes to privacy, we shouldn't just take their word for it that they have our best interests at heart.
What does Bits of Freedom want?
To protect everyone's privacy, Bits of Freedom wants a ban on pervert glasses.
Until there's a EU wide ban, Bits of Freedom calls on business owners, companies and organizations to take responsibility. This way shops, clubs or schools can already protect people from this humiliating form of technology. For example, by banning pervert glasses through house rules - something like music venue TivoliVredenburg in Utrecht already showed.
Let's all make sure that pervert glasses do not become normal and are not accepted.
