“In this (English language) event we will discuss how critical and creative use of new technologies, data, the internet and other digital media platforms can support democracy and civil society. Together with our partner Cairotronica from Egypt we will focus on the situation in various regions in the world, like Africa and the Middle East. Cairotronica and IMPAKT will also preview the We Are Data exchange project they are developing for 2019 and 2020. In this collaboration the two organizations plan to bring together artists, researchers, developers, coders, designers, activists and journalists from Egypt, the Netherlands and elsewhere to work on projects that contribute to a better understanding of the way data and new technologies are used by governments and political movements. The projects will also explore how we can use and appropriate these technologies ourselves for fun, diversity, art and protest.”
With Haytham Nawar and Nada Bakr of Cairotronica (Egypt), curator, artist and graphic designer Ghalia Sarakbi (Syria/Egypt), and Arjon Dunnewind (IMPAKT, The Netherlands). Other guests will be announced soon!
